Cairo Day 1

I arrived about 10am in the morning rather jet lagged from the long trip. After a shower, I relaxed, spending 3 hours on the laptop drinking beers and watching dream team points tick over for the western bulldogs vs saints game. I was pretty surprised that the saints got up but I think the bulldogs lost it for themselves.

I then ventured out into the city to have a look around. To my surprise we must be in the industry central because there was shops upon shops of makita drills, angle grinders and small motors. I was rather surprised, all this shops, it sort of reminded of me of Thailand but it just kept going. Allot of the locals aren't very good at English but they seemed to know 3 words, Hello, Welcome and Thank you.

It was time to head back to the hotel before tea and I met a few people from the tour. We got recommended a couple of joints to eat, so we headed in the opposite direction to my earlier walk. This was more like I expected for the city, shoes, clothes, hand bags.

The restaurant had allot of standard western meals so I thought I would go out of my comfort zone and picked a local meal I hadn't heard of. Turned out to be a type of thick tomato soup with baked vegetables and meat inside. No idea on the type of meat or veges but I am still kicking and it wasn't to bad.

The night ended with a few lazy beers with about 12 people from both Contiki and Bus About tours. We all start tours on the same days so I am sure I will see a bit more of them by the end of it.

Cairo

I have arrived in Cairo after over 30 hours of travelling and to my surprise my bag also arrived.

Now at the Victoria hotel, having a local Stella which is going down pretty well. Turns out I have 2 days to myself here so I should try to see some of the sites.

I thought this place would be stinking hot but it is pretty mild, not a bad thing.

Away Again

I got a few nights back in Melbourne to catch up on sleep.
It was great going to an Indian restaurant with Keyur and Beejal, we went all vegetarian options so it was cool to try it for a night.

Packing was certainly a task, making sure to keep everything down and preparing for all 5 tours.

I am now in Sydney for the first of 5 different flights to Egypt. Hopefully my bag joins me at the end destination like it is meant to.

Kokoda

I have come back from Papau New Gineau after completing the Kokoda trail.

Having 20 good blokes to do it with and Hayden leading us made it a remarkable trip. Leaning about Kingsley, Charlie Mac, Brigadier potts and many World War 2 heroes.

Ramsy got a bug on the 3rd day which caused him to lose his lunch but that didn't stop him. Mike didn't have his pack until day 3, a porter completed what we didn't in 2 1/2 days within 10 hours, the group got around him, leading clothes and any spare food, Mike wouldn't give up.

Every Bloke Got through.

Beers were the end reward and there was plenty had.

The Anzac day dawn service was moving and a fitting tribute. We moved onto the High Commission for Breakfast including a few early beers. We moved onto the Yacht Club for the big Collingwood vs Essendon game, a fantastic climax to the trip with a huge Magpie win.

Finished Work

Work is over, 6 months of now having my own agenda.

We to watch the Ashwood Boys play there first game, I really want to be out playing but staying healthy for Kokoda is a little more important. Bummer the guys got out classed on they day but I can see them getting a good push out of losses and next week will be a totally different story.
